Eligibility

Entry to BNOC 2024 is open only to members of the British Orienteering Federation, and to members of overseas IOF-affiliated Federations.

To be eligible to be a British Champion, an individual competitor must on the day immediately preceding the event be a member of British Orienteering, and either:

  • Be a British citizen.
  • Or have been a member of British Orienteering in each of the three membership years preceding the year of the competition

and must compete in their correct age class, or 'run up' in a lower age class (or older age class for juniors)

All courses are planned to TD5 standard. M/W14s wishing to run must be vetted for experience. Please email BNCenquiries@britishorienteering.org.uk, the event organiser with name, club and a short summary of relevant experience of competing at TD5 and night orienteering courses, before submitting an entry. The organiser reserves the right to refuse or cancel entries of those who cannot demonstrate the necessary experience. 

There will be a non-championship orange course available to those that pre-enter

There will be no entries taken after 31/1/2024 except for exceptional circumstances (please contact the organiser if you believe this applies) and strictly no entry on the day.

Please note that if you have not renewed your membership with BOF, it may take up to 10 days for this to be processed. This must be done before you submit an entry.

Hired SI cards will be available to collect at Download. A charge of £30 will be made for lost or non-returned hire SI cards. After your run they must be left in a box beside the splits printer.

Seeding

There will be seeding on courses 1 to 8.  At present this is expected to be top 20 runners at 3 minute intervals.

I declare that the information on this form is complete and correct.  Orienteering is an adventure sport.  A comprehensive risk assessment for the event has been prepared and identified risks have been mitigated, however please be aware that participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.  Please be careful of crossing streams/ditches, steep slopes, etc. that may be on some courses.  Parents are responsible for their children and advice is available on request about what courses may be suitable.

I agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times and age group.

In the event of cancellation some or all of your entry fee may be retained.
